VOJSKO

If you decide to visit Vojsko, then follow the local road that branches off from the centre of Idrija and leads you up the valley of the Nikova stream. After about 9 km of car ride you will spot the first houses on the Vojsko Plateau. From Gnezda homestead to the right you have a good view of the peaks of the Alps with Triglav. Turn to the left, and the mighty Trnovski gozd (Trnovo Forest) in the background will catch your eye. Continuing a few further kilometres along the road brings you to the centre of the community with the church, local shop, lodge Dom CŠOD and two inns offering accommodation.

The community of Vojsko is characterized by:

• High altitude, with some farms lying higher than 1100 m above sea level, which ranks Vojsko among the highest lying villages in Slovenia.
• Harsh climate with long winters, plenty of snow and a short harvest period,which makes the natural conditions unfavourable towards agriculture.
• Dispersion of homesteads on a plateau with a stratified landform, which covers an area of 3600 hectares and measures 10 km in diameter.

This website aims to guide the visitor through some of the natural beauties of the Vojsko plateau. Maybe they will impress you so much that you will
keep coming back again and again.

V petek 11. maja 2012 smo na Vojskem v sodelovanju z ZD Idrija dobili v uporabo napravo, ki bo v pomoč pri morebitnem reševanju bolnikov obolelih ob srčnih zastojih. Naprava je nameščena  v središču vasi na gasilskem domu (na vagi).
